I will be at the Bouldering World Cup in Vail, CO on Saturday so I will give everyone an update on what the competition is like. In reading the recent reports about the routesetting for the comp and Qualifiers today it sounds like it’s been a tough go. It rained constantly during the routesetting – which, as you can imagine, makes it very difficult to work. And reports of the Qualifiers lead me to believe that some of the routes were just too hard for the competitors as there were few sends and lots of ties. I guess we’ll see how it goes tomorrow for the finals. I’m looking forward to seeing what an international climbing competition looks like, how it is run, and what kind of performances the routes bring out. Look for a report here either Saturday or Sunday.
