Special Event - Friday, December 17, 2010
Report: Oklahoma climbers, friends, and family joined us on Friday, December 17, 2010 to benefit Russell Hooper and his family. In total, over $3200 in donations and proceeds from the day's sales will be donated to the Hooper family.
Thank you to everyone who donated, bought memberships, and bought gear and mailed in checks and letters in honor of Russell. We thank you and I know Russell and his family thank you.
*****About the Event*****
Friday, December 17, Rocktown is holding a special benefit event for our friend and Oklahoma climber, Russell Hooper. Russell Hooper has been fighting cancer since 2002 and is now on in-home hospice care.
All day (from 2 pm -10 pm) Rocktown will donate proceeds from day pass sales and all donations to Russell Hooper and his family.
In the spirit of giving we would like as many people as possible - climbers and others - to help raise as much money as possible.
Russell Hooper, is a native Oklahoman, and has been climbing for over 30 years and is, by all accounts, an icon in the climbing community. Russell is a board member of the Wichita Mountains Climbers Coalition, and has introduced countless climbers (young and old) to the sport of climbing. In addition to climbing, Russell is an accomplished marathon and ultra-marathon runner. Russell lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, Kelly and their 2-year-old son, Logan.
